I had a heavy briefcase and it did it to me.
had to buckle the passenger side seat belt to make it stop.

What is the hourly reminder?
Reminder to do what?

it is as it says as the hour approaches you will hear if you have it turned on via the idrive four beeps ( beep beep beep beeeep). if you listen to the news on the hour it helps to remind you to turn on the radio especially if your using another entertainment source. other than that i can't see any other use for it. yours bmw523i

You have it - see page 87 (or thereabouts) in your owner's manual. BTW, it's 3 beeps, not sure what 4 beeps mean.

How to GET RID OFF 4 beeps in BMW while driving!

The 4 beeps came from the the "HOURLY MEMO" that is CHECKED in the TIME menu where you set the TIME.

Just UNCHECK the "HOURLY MEMO" in the TIME setting menu and the 4 beeps will go away!

Enjoy your Bimmer!
