X6 F16 (2015 - Current)
The all new 2015 BMW X6 is the second generation luxury cross over. BMW referes to the X6 as a Sports Activity Coupe (SAC) as it combines the attributes of an SUV (high ground clearance, xDrive and all-weather ability) with the stance, styling and roof line shape of a coupe. The F16 BMW X6 is build side by side with the F15 X5 at BMW's BMW's Spartanburg, SC plant. Read all about the second generation BMW X6 here!

Long Story - Don't Play with Tire tread and patterns

About 14 months or so ago I put new tires on my X6, staggered set, etc. They're continentals but same tires all the way around, just different sizes on front vs back.

About 2 months one of the back tires blew out. The tire shop told me I could just replace the back two tires and leave the fronts alone. Or at least they said we could give it a try.

So problem #1 - new tires on back but fronts had about 10k miles worn off on them.
Problem #2 - different continentals on the front than the back, so tread patterns were different as well.

A couple days ago the car gives a warning sign of "Chassis Stabilization" and is making a horrible squeaking noise.

I take it to BMW and they tell me I need a software update and a new rear differential. It's going to cost me an arm and a leg.

Long story short - I should've put four new tires all the way around rather than testing it out with different fronts vs backs. Don't let this happen to you.

Trust and verify. Get a second opinion.

Doug, you mean you're not convinced I need a new rear diff?
