G30 (2017 - Current)
The next generation 5 Series, chassis code G30, arrives at dealers in February 2017. Looking like a scaled down 7 Series and riding on the CLAR platform, the new 5 Series will have a focus on lightweight and sporty performance. Engines options will come from BMW's new B family for the 530 and 540 and a turbocharged V8 for the M550i. Read more about the 2017 5 Series

M550i Discounts

What kind of discounts are you getting on a 2020 M550i? I live in WA state and the pickings are slim. Kuni BMW is only offering me 3K off MSRP, and the dealers in Seattle are less. I can purchase from a dealer in MD $6200 off MSRP, but it costs $1800 to ship.

Ant suggestions?

Thank you!

The closest one you can find is in MD? There has to be some closer than that. With the numbers you posted buying across country seems like a no brainer.

The last time I looked a few weeks ago cars.com showed 7 in stock within 500 miles of Houston. That radius includes three of the ten largest cities in the U.S.

Good luck.

EDIT. Just looked again. There are now 13, and five of them are at one dealer - BMW of Grapevine.

Yes, if it wasn’t for the shipping cost, I would jump on it!

Why not reach out to Bimmerfest founder Jon Shafer and see what he can do? Jon was out of the business for several years due to back surgery and has recently returned. His contact info can be found in the Ask-a-Dealer forum. I'm sure the shipping would be a lot less from his store in CA. But I would take a long weekend and drive your new toy up the coast if I was you.

Buying a new car in CA is not an option if you are out of state. CA will charge sales tax and a $1K registration fee. Trust me I tried.

Is this a good deal?

MSRP $84240
Dealer discount $8000
BMW incentives $6500

The bad:

Shipping $1795
Document fee $699
Notary fee $340

Total $2834

What do you guys think?

Local dealer will only discount $3K plus $6500 BMW incentives

That doesn't sound right or it must be new. Many members have bought cars from Jon and other sponsors in CA and they never mentioned this.

That's a good deal but you need to find another shipper. I shipped my new F10 535i from Arizona to Georgia for $800 in 2014. Also, the notary fee is a scam. Even lawyers don't charge that much to notarize documents. LOL.

The shipping is for an inclosed container, not open trailer. Open trailer is $1K.

I agree the notary fee is a scam.

How far away is the dealer? Still sounds high for shipping. You can probably negotiate that down a bit.

BTW, don't forget your BMWCCA membership rebate from BMWNA.

Maybe not so bad then....but try negotiating. I always used enclosed, never open...friends have tried and ended up with stone damage just the same to the bumper, hood and windshield. Not worth it.

Thanks!

$1800 seems to me the going rate this time of year. I paid $1200 3 years ago to have my Porsche shipped from Phoenix to Portland OR in a close truck.

What do you think about the rest of the deal?
