Poor Standard LED Headlights?

The Insurance Institute on Highway Safety rated the standard LED headlights on the 2019 X5 as poor, which is the worst rating possible.

Has anyone with the standard LED headlights had visibility issues in the dark and rain?

The Poor rating was not based on visibility issues but rather glare for oncoming drivers.

Ditto Turtle...that's the gist I got when reading the data...it was about the low beam glare for oncoming traffic. The POOR rating was not from the aspect of the X5 driver...but for the poor souls that had to endure being blinded by the X5 owner...and high beam illumination of side of the road on straightaways

I'm assuming that the review/info at this link is what you're referring to: https://www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicle...-door-suv/2019

IN the excerpt from the review below...you can see (green highlights) that the low and high beams got good ratings from the point of view of the X5 driver...but the negative review (red highlight) had to do with low beam glare which would be experienced by oncoming traffic & high beam road side illumination:

It was only the non-Icon Adaptive LED's that had excessive glare. The Icon Adaptive LED's were rated good.

For some reason BMW has trouble with headlights. The ones on my E 39 are ridiculous - the low beams must have been designed as civilian "blackout lights" for sneaking through a German village so as to avoid attracting Allied bombers.

The high beams are like the legendary Lucas "Flamethrower" rallye driving lights of yore, which really light up the night, but absolutely blind oncoming traffic, triggering high beam retaliation, swerving into my lane, and general road rage.
