TPM sensors for 2018 x5

Bought a certified pre-owned 2018 x5 35i earlier this year which came with a 19” rims & tires. My 2010 trade trade-in had a stagger 20” aftermarket rims & tires I upgrade vehicle with but didn’t trade in these 20” rims with the vehicle. Kept the 20” rims in my garage and trade-in vehicle with the OEM rims. Last month remove the 19” wheels from the 2018 x5 and installed the 20” aftermarket rims on the new x5. Now the TPM is unable to detect the tire pressure nor can I get the system to re-set, even though I tried multiple times from the iDrive system. A friend of mine suggested, maybe the new 2018 x5 TPM vehicle frequency isn’t compatible with the older model TPM that was installed in the 20” aftermarket rims and I may have to upgrade the TPM to the type for the 2018 x5. My question to the community, do I need to switch out the older TPM in the 20” rims for a new compatible TPM to fit my 2018 x5 TPM system? If so, what’s the proper brand to get for my vehicle? I cannot install or program the new TPM to my vehicle on my own, so would any reputable tire shop be able to install and program them to my vehicle?

Thank you,

This is as easy as looking up the part nbr in one of the online part database sites to see if there is a cut-off date for the 2010 sensors installed in the older wheels. If the TMPS are compatible...when you click on the part should reveal what other BMW models can use that same part.

Do the same for your new BMW (go to the wheel diagrams and click on the TPMS)...check if it uses the same sensors as your old BMW.

If you don't know of an online part's 3 of my favs:
