Dashboard Ventilation Fan

I posted this on the E60 forum but have not received any responses; I'm hoping that a professional BMW Tech on this forum can provide some guidance.

The interior dashboard fan on my 2007 530i makes a rattling noise; it is particularly obvious at low rpm's and less obvious at high rpm's. The only way I can eliminate it is turn the fan off completely.

How accessible is this fan so I can hit it with some lubrication on the spindle to eliminate this noise? Do I have to open up the console/dash or can I squirt something in through the vent openings to reach it?

Anyone have any experience with this issue?
Thanks

Doug:

Thank you very much for the courtesy of your reply and the precision with which you have directed me to the appropriate resource.
I will review these procedures to see whether it's something I think I can tackle myself.
At first glance, it seems like a lot of dismantling to access a noisy spindle, but it may also be the only way.

Again, thank you.
Nick
