Tim - BMWNA web-site "built your own" has this as a MY 2016 - not 2017.
Perhaps their way of being able to charge $400 for the rear view camera. Starting with MY 2017 cars sold in US, this is a mandatory requirement.

I'm not following what you're saying.

The BMWNA "build your own" web page allows you to still build and order a MY 2016 X4 M40i. No mention of that car as a MY 2017. For the 2016, you have to pay an additional $400 for a rear view camera. All cars sold in USA must have rear view cameras starting with MY 2017. For the 2017 Pricing Guide you posted (thank you) I don't see how BMW can have that as an ($400) "option" when it is required by law for a MY 2017. But that is what the pricing guide you posted shows. For the Xdrive 28i, it is part of package ZDA. For the M440i it is a stand-alone option.

Correction: The backup camera is mandatory only for 2018 cars. Sorry - I was relying on what a BMW salesman had told me.

BMWUSA runs behind on updates. Rear view cameras are not required to be standard 100% until 2018.

I want to get an order in for the 2017 x4 m40, but my dealer is pretty clueless on this car and when it will be available. Any insight into production times here? My lease ends in August and I want to have this car ordered and hopefully delivered around then. Any help is appreciated!

According to my dealer it's now delayed and he says no one knows why. Maybe I just need to be speaking to someone else

Here in SoCal there at least a handful sitting on dealer's lots. And, yes that is a surprising small number. Let us know if another dealer in your area confirms there is a delay in production. Thanks.

Mein Auto: Still in production
Hello Everyone

I just joined Bimmerfest. I just ordered my very first BMW. I ordered the X4 M40i loaded, I also feel like I am getting a little bit of a run around from the dealer. I gave them my order deposit over a week ago and still haven't got a verification of a "build allocation?". I was hoping to have my SAV this month but that doesn't look good from where I am sitting. So to add to the conversation, My dealer didn't say there was a delay but they did say they are not sure why I haven't got a slot yet.

Let me know how it goes, and look forward to seeing pics. I'm waiting to get more info before I place the order, hopefully that happens soon.

Mein Auto: 2017 X4 M40
Hi Tim

Quick questions- will the X4 have the Apple car play option? I do not see it listed, but I know it is a option in most BMWs for August production. Is the steering wheel Power adjustable? Are the seats in the X4 M4.0 the sport seats the the thigh extensions? And finally, any BMW M Performance accessories (spoilers, pedals, mirror caps),I do not see anything listed on the BMW website.

Thanks!

Doesn't look like Apple carplay is being offered. I can't remember if the wheel is power adjustable.

I just placed an order yesterday and was assured by my CA that Apple CarPlay Compatibility was available as option 6CP. We'll see.

Anyone know if there will be an option to add car play to a 2017 x4, as a software update, with the new idrive 5.0?

Thanks
