Hi

The subs on my car went dead (rear doors and center still works). Took the amp apart and tested the caps. All seem ok. Replaced the sub amps with tda1562q chips. Still not working. No corrosion damage or damage to other components. Does anyone have any ideas?

Whatever it was, probably had nothing to do with the Logic7

Hello

I have and logic 7 amp processeor board what does not start up. I have a working board also and verified, that amp and power board is okey. Have nice 5V and 3,3V and it works with the board. So I have a problems somewhere in firing up circuit. The bad board does nothing, just found a stand by 5V what seems to be ok. Measured and compared transistors to good board. No differences. With the good board amp show a red light for a little while and then shuts down, what is normal. Bad board does not fire up a optical red light also nothing.
The amp IC-s where also all burned when got the amp, replaced them and power-amp board works with my backup digital board. So the problem is 100% in the digital board, but nothing blown, or have not found yet.

the faulty board now powers up for a second or two and then switches off. In car it keeps restarting. 5V and 3,3V measured ok. The processor nr 1 is cold and does not warm up. Processor nr 2 is warm....normal working condition I think.

L7 Problem

Wow, amazing work stuartjohn24!

Unfortunately i have another model of the Logic7 Amp but i have the same issue that the amp keeps waking the whole car probably because of a broken transistor.
i took a look at the circuit board and found one that does not look very good.
Do you know if it is possible that this one in the left corner is broken?

Thanks!

Regards

R

Excellent Post and Great job. Thank You Very Much

My AMP finally blew tonight.... Well at least I think it has, my idrive has been playing up intermittently every now and then for a month or so.

Tonight I got in the car and there is music playing but only for a second, then stops for a second then plays for a second etc... at very low volume and crackly. music only come out the front door speakers.

The idrive keeps reverting back to the radio menu, the TV functions dont work it wont select a channel, I can select ipod tracks with a few attempts but they wont play unless you keep trying! and the ASK wont play CD's! Also the MMI wont shut off after I have removed they key!

INPA cannot communicate with the AMP so im assuming thats the issue? It sounds more serious than just the capacitors or amplifier IC's going down and more like the actual MOST interface itself is rebooting. Or could the AMP be rebooting as one of the caps are short and its PSU is overloading and trying to restart?

Will pull it out and loop the MOST bus and see if it is indeed the problem!

Stuart
My amp is doing the same thing!! Where are you located Stuart? How much would you charge to fix mine?

ASK unit

Cool stuff guys. I got the new amp circuit board, for my ask unit, from diyparadise but not the instruction video link to show what color wire goes where. Been practicing on an old amp board to make sure I am comfortable and feel I can handle it.There are thirteen total wires plus a larger black wire, am assuming a different power source location. Anybody have the instruction sheet? Saw the picture of the unsoldered chip with 13 pads. Do i need two of these, one for each amp? Thanks and awesome info!

I also ordered and received one of these ASK boards and have no wire schematic. Does anyone have this?

Hi,
I have a 745i, 2002. The amp maybe Logic 7 is overheating in summertime,
after a 5 minutes comes back. This time totally stopped the sound system.
i read Your DIY, but Im not sure, i have to change the chips, or the capacitors?

I just didn't find, wich repair work is need if I have this problem.

and now, i dont have radio, slowly goes out, sometimes worked, sometimes not, but 1 month ago nothing from the radio. CD is ok, if the Logic 7 works

thanks from Hungary

I take it there is no instruction video link anywhere in the package?

I had someone in the UK repair my ASK unit many years ago. However only the left side speakers were not functioning, so I required only wiring to replace that one IC. Below are 3 photos.
The new amp IC didn't function when I first received it (seller acknowledged they weren't familiar with the ASK unit, more so with the similar BM54 for i-bus BMWs). Then I moved the blue StandBy wire to the location in the photo and it's been functional ever since. The module he used had 2 blue wires, the one closest to the new amp ICs was used for the Standby Signal. The 2nd blue wire was not used.

I moved the black wire (+ Power) to the location shown for a cleaner install. Good Luck!

EDIT: I found the company in the UK who did the repair: http://www.carphonics.co.uk/

EDIT 2: I used one of these kits to fix another ASK unit and posted pictures in Post #93 here: https://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...=565121&page=4

well I took apart the amp and the capacitors appear fine....bought the wrong multimeter so couldn't check the capacitance readings.
The amp chip mod has arrived....looks like a scary job

That would have been useful information to me as well. I put a video up on youtube...not the best but at least you get some idea.
