Über Washers

The headlight washers on my 2012 328i are monsters! Any time I pull on the right steering column stalk to wash my windshield, the headlight washers come on and spray so forcefully that I wind up with washer fluid all over the front of the grill and about 2/3 of the hood (which leaves washer foam and bubbles all over the hood and it streaks). Does anyone else have this problem? I took it by the dealer thinking they need to be adjusted. The young lady who met me in the "no service appointment" lane said that all BMW's do this, that her's does the same thing and that's just the way they are. I never made it o a service technician bu I find it hard to believe that they are engineered this way.

Also, is there a way to wash my windshield without activating the headlight washers each time. In my former car (Audi A6) you had to hold the stalk longer to activate the headlight washers than you did if you just wanted to wash the windshield.

On an E90 if your lights are off they do not activate. I am guessing it still works this way on an F30. The original BMW washer fluid is white and foamy, once mine ran out I switched to the regular cheap blue stuff and no longer get streaks. As far is spraying the hood, yes they all do that!

Thanks a lot for the recommendation. I tried it today with the headlights off and sure enough, just as you said, the head lamp washers do not activate. O.K. - so I have to get used to a new "quirk" that's a little different from old ride. Will have to remember to turn off the auto head light mode if I don't want to spray my hood all time.

Thats great to know. Now I don't have to take the car to the car wash to get it cleaned up because of the head light washer spraying on the hood. At 10 degrees it just a little bit to cold to wash it myself.
cheers

Sounds good. Where I go its a hand car wash and they do a great job. Being Black Sapphire if they don't do a good job you can see it right away and for $9.00 you can't beat it.
cheers
