Changing e85 6 Speed Manual Trans Fluid

I purchased a 2003 Z4 M54B30 a few months ago and it has around 83k miles on the clock. I'm not sure if the 6 speed manual trans fluid has ever been changed. Should I go about changing it? Or will more harm be done since if it has the original fluid its been 16 years? Does it matter if I'm potentially changing it this late in the cars life? I've heard of bad things happening to automatics if the fluid is changed with a lot of miles.

When you change it, make sure you loosen the fill plug before draining.

You're fine to change it on a stick. The fear of late in life change is for automatics only although I've changed several late in life and had no problems. Make sure you use the correct synthetic oil...pretty sure your stick shift takes atf.
