I'm currently having trouble starting my BMW Z3 - 1.9l - 1997 - 89,996 miles. The car starts and cranks and begins to run but then almost immediately (1/2 seconds later) cuts out. The car has recently (3000 miles ago) had a replacement head gasket fitted by a BMW specialist garage; whilst having that work done it has also had a new Camshaft and Crankshaft Sensor fitted alongside a full service (inc Spark Plugs) and a few other replacement parts that were needed. The car has run fine for the 3000 miles since having this work done however after a 200 mile drive from London to Yorkshire started and cut out the following morning and has done ever since. It has now been to three garages who have been unable to diagnose the fault (no diag codes or warning lights) and I'm starting to worry it may never start again; any help would be much appreciated to get my first, and what I hoped would be my only car back up and running!

What led to the head gasket, and the the cam and crank sensors, being replaced?
What other parts were replaced?
Was the garage that did all that work unable to diagnose the current problem?
This forum is not likely to do better than three garages who have examined the car first hand.
There are a couple of good Z3 forums in England, too.

Perhaps one the replaced sensors has failed.
