Steering Wheel Wear

I'm driving an e85 2008 z4 and on the steering wheel, between the leather components, the part of the wheel that once was likely silver is now worn and doesn't look so good. Does anyone have a recommendation on how to shine it up or improve the look without damaging anything?

There is a product called Rub N Buff. Its wax based, just rub a tiny bit on, let dry a few secs and buff off. I believe Silver Leaf is the color you want. Pretty amazing stuff, you can find at craft stores or online.

My Z4 M Roadster has black matte pieces that got worn through to the underlying plastic and didn't look right. I ended up buying replacements on eBay and installing them. That's the only way to get back to what you want, I think.
