E70 X5 M and E71 X6 M (2010 - 2015)
The BMW X5 M and X6 M are the first xDrive all-wheel-drive vehicles from M GmbH. The M variants offers the same utility as the regular X5 and X6, with the addition of the V8 M TwinPower Turbo, a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 delivering 560 horsepower and 500 lb·ft of torque.

No start - 2011 X6
Looking for advice please. Car went into limp mode, took it to mechanic who said it showed 8 faults so he wiped them to let them build Back up over the next 2 days. Next day, while driving carefully (urgent trip to my parents) a warning light came on about no oil and cant not continue journey (no warning before about oil low) steering locked up and engine cut out. Wouldnt start. My brother came, put some oil in (dipstick was showing half but he said the cap smelt like it was very low). Wouldnt start, he put a spare battery on and it started fine. Drove slowly home (got about 1 mile down the road and the same happened again. Steering locked and engine cut out. RAC came and the guy was adamant engine has siezed. (If thats the case why did it start to work again with oil and new battery - new battery still full but on pressing start button it just goes tick and dies). I do have a list of fault codes from the RAC and a couple relate to EGR valve. (Had engine cleaned last year and was told DPF was getting a bit clogged)
Does anyone have any idea what it might be? Could the engine have siezed? (Done 110k but no issues until this). Really hoping its not the engine as we cant afford new.
We have someone coming out later this week to see if he can get a better look but noone seems to know what it could be or want to help Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks
