Hello all!!
Hope everyone is safe and healthy.
Question.
I have a 2003 BMW 540iA msport.
Can anyone suggest a good repair manual specific to my year make and model?
Most of the info is on-line. But a Bentley manual specific to E39 (both 6 & 8 cyl) is the best E39 manual.
Its a two volume set and avail both in hard and soft cover versions. Plenty avail used on Ebay.
auto or manual trans? if auto, if could fault the ABS as with the auto trans, there is a speed sensor in it...two if im not mistaken...with a large enough of a difference tween rpm, trans shaft rotation and wheel speed ive heard of off sized tired causing it to fault.
if this statement needs to be corrected, perhaps one with more knowledge will chime in.
Yes, it could fault he ABS, IF the difference in rpm / speedo -as computed by the tire size calculator- is more than 3%.
At least that is my understanding from a discussion we had a couple years ago when I replaced my tires with slightly larger tires. I kept them, and never had an ABS fault. :dunno:
