G30 (2017 - Current)
The next generation 5 Series, chassis code G30, arrives at dealers in February 2017. Looking like a scaled down 7 Series and riding on the CLAR platform, the new 5 Series will have a focus on lightweight and sporty performance. Engines options will come from BMW's new B family for the 530 and 540 and a turbocharged V8 for the M550i. Read more about the 2017 5 Series

Joining the 550 Club: Kudos to Bimmerfest Founder Jon Shafer... (MORE)

After having a '14 535iX and a '17 540 iX soon to go off lease, I decided it was time for a bit more horsepower. So, after lots of getting quotes all over the place and making lots of configuration decisions, I ended up ordering an M550iX through Jon Shafer of BMW of Santa Maria about ten days ago. Jon got me a great deal and magically, an early production date. The car is now being built.

I will be picking up my car at the BMW Performance Center in South Carolina, something that I really look forward to experiencing.

Jon was great to deal with. I talked with him multiple times, exchanged many emails and met him at his dealership. I freely admit to being a type "A" pain in the ass and went back and forth with a few items and made several changes until I finally got the car I wanted. Having a good sounding board and a responsible party who acted quickly was very reassuring.

Kudos Jon!

Congrats on the upcoming new car and nice testimonial.

Hope you start a thread on the BMW performance center experience. I have done a couple of Euro deliveries which I would highly recommend to anyone (although it takes patience), and performance center is on my bucket list.

Good job and congrats! I'll go out on a limb here and say you are definitely going to notice "a bit more horsepower" LOL. I love my '18 M550!

Shyeah! No doubt. The M550i puts the F10 535 to shame. This car can put the power down in a real hurry. Love our 2019. It's a beast.

Thank you for the kind words. I just got my email from the PCD today. Psyched!!! BMW seems to make the experience one that is fun-filled and useful for new car owners.
