7 Series - G11 / G12 (2016 - current)
The next generation G11/G12 BMW 7 Series flagship forum. Unveiled June 10th, with production starting in August the 6th generation 7 Series comes in a light weight package with extensive use of BMW i carbon fiber technology. The interior quality raises the bar with a touch screen and gesture controlled infotainment system. Exterior styling has been a sticking point with mixed reviews so far.

Back Pain

Hello to all. First time to the 7 forums. I am considering a 7 Series for ride and comfort due to chronic back pain. Would like to hear some opinions on this car vs others for my issue. I had a 535i in 2015 but wasn't overwhelmed with the comfort level although it did not have M Sport on it.

Thanks Ahead!

The ride is plushy and comfortable if you use the comfort mode. I would not expect the M Sport to be more comfortable, if not less.
I can't call the 7 series seats extremely comfortable. They are OK+. Long trips shouldn't be a problem.

My GL450, on the other hand, has the most comfortable seats I have ever used. If I have a back pain, I only need to drive the GL450 around for an hour, and the pain is gone. It cures!

Yet, the 7 series is more fun ride.

G12 with massage function has been a blessing for my aching back. Massage moves the seat subtley so that your back is not stuck in one position. It is what sold me on the car (after a test drive) and I would suggest you try to test one with massage.

Thanks for the replies, will check it out. The current DD Grand Cherokee is a beating.
The 911 is prohibitive.

I love massaging in general and I'm used to deep tissue rough massage. Definitely check the massaging function in the BMW, I have it but don't use it since it is way too soft.

Yup. Don't expect a real massage. But the movement of the seat is really helpful, especially on a long drive. "Disappointment is a function of expectation"
