TechnicPnP - Easiest way to add a sub to G20!

I just installed the new @TechnicPnP wiring harness for the g20 and couldn't be happier with how easy it was to install and add my JL Audio sub from my old F36 in the new car.

Not sure if everyone knows but with the new g20, BMW moved the head unit into the same module as the amp (in HiFi models). They also changed the connections. This means that my Bimmertech PP82 amp (that I spent a lot of money for) does not work in the g20. That also meant I was left with an awesome JL Audio sub just collecting dust too.

Thankfully, I remember that TechnicPnP creates these amazing Plug and Play wiring harnesses. I reached out and he replied within a few hours. Figured out what I needed based on my VIN, then got one in the mail to me within a couple of days. I'll also add all of this with a hurricane moving towards Florida... he didn't skip a beat to help!

I'll add some pictures detailing the install of the harness and the sub as soon as I can. Honestly, one of the easiest installs I've ever done ***x1f44d; and highly recommend working with TechnicPnP and his products!

Any questions... send them my way. Cheers!

Definitely want to follow this, (and see those pics), lol. I have a JL Sub and Amp I'll be pulling out of my current setup and putting it into an M340. I have a bass control knob too, that I will definitely be trying to find a clean spot to install. The wife is not as much of a fan of bass as I am.

My current install (in a '17 AMG C43) utilizes a decent sized cutout under the trunk floor/decking. Custom made box to fit that, and then we fabricated a whole new floor with a removable cutout/cover over the sub (for when I actually use the trunk). Any space like that in the Bimmer? Especially if I go with the Runflats? Or should I just reinstall the JL back into the JL designed hi-output bandpass box?

The HK system does sound great... But from what I could tell.. It surely could benefit from a little extra thump.

Looking forward to seeing your finished product!

Shoot! I wrote up an entire step by step process last night and I guess put too many pics because I've been waiting for it to be approved and post... nothing yet. I'll put some pics in multiple posts...

With regard to being able to hide the sub under the trunk floor, I don't see how you'd be able to because the battery is centered and takes up almost the entire space. You'd have to move the battery somehow to possibly accommodate.

I haven't checked, but I have the "space saver spare" option in my trunk...which definitely changes the elevation/overall space in the trunk...but I wonder if the battery placement is moved? If it is then you removed the spare I wonder if that space opens up for the Amp/sub? I'll take a look

Very clean! I like it.
Not sure what, if any kind of room there might be underneath like the C43. I'll probably just go back to the bandpass box, with quick disconnects for when we travel, and possibly need the trunk space. I think the amp and a couple fans under the sub floor may work okay, just to get it out of the way!

Thanks for sharing. I'll be referring back to this when I'm ready to order the harness, and move forward with the install.

Do share the images of the SA676 amplifier, especially the wiring harness. Do you have the color codes for the speaker wires? I am contemplating splicing them and connect to an aftermarket kit. Have not understood color codes for the spekaer wires yet
