G30 (2017 - Current)
The next generation 5 Series, chassis code G30, arrives at dealers in February 2017. Looking like a scaled down 7 Series and riding on the CLAR platform, the new 5 Series will have a focus on lightweight and sporty performance. Engines options will come from BMW's new B family for the 530 and 540 and a turbocharged V8 for the M550i. Read more about the 2017 5 Series

Ride

How is the ride in Comfort Setting on this car? I asked this in the 7 forum also. I have a bad back looking for a car that is comfortable, not stiff and sporty all the time. Any opinions here, I have not driven one since 2017?

We need more information. The comfort setting only effects the ride if the car has Dynamic Dampers. There are several suspensions on the 5 series depending upon which "style" and options you get. The Luxury style with 18" wheels rides great. From there the ride gets progressively worse if is has M-Sport and which wheel size you get. Most folks will tell you that none of them rides badly, but it's all relative to how sensitive you are and what your roads are like.

I have a 540xDrive - NOT MSport - w/the Multi-contour seats and 19" wheels/tires (OEM RFTs) that I keep at +3psi over the "recommended" inflation pressures. In "Comfort" setting the ride is firm but not (for me) stiff.
However, IF you are looking for softer seating/ride for your back condition you might consider shopping for a different brand of vehicle.

I would go for a Lexus if I were you. Or even a Lincoln. German luxury cars will give you a stiffer, harder ride than the Lexus or Lincoln.

Thanks for all the replies. German vehicle with stiffer ride is what I was thinking too. Ok, I will ride in a Lexus thanks.

If ride comfort is your overriding #1 priority Lexus is a good place to start. As mentioned Lincoln maybe Genesis would be worth a look.
