Smile My Other Hobbie... GRILLING & SMOKING BBQ

Summer is here and so is my routine of Grilling and Smoking Meats!

I enjoy discussing technique, seasoning, and tips on BBQing.

Here a pair of Short Ribs I smoked for Father's Day....

those look good - I bought my 1st smoker last year off a neighbor who was moving out of state. I got a bargain for $50 for a big old steel smoker and mrs wyb and I wheeled it over to the house with multiple breaks to catch our breath - those suckers are heavy sum'biatches.

I smoked large amounts of meat 2 weeks ago and we're still eating much of it - I froze some smoked sausage, a half a brisket, some ribs and some pork chops after they were done. I should have frozen the jalapenos and hatch chilis I smoked as well, as I made way too many... they are good in a green chili..

I'm no smoking expert, but I do enjoy heading to the local family owned grocer and picking up whatever they have cheap - every 2-3 weeks they make their own sausages up and do a 1/2 price sale, so 2-3 packs come home and freeze until I smoke... they're REALLY tasty after they've had an apple wood session ... yum.

I'm actually looking for a better supplier of wood chunks - but kingsford bags of hickory and apple chunks were on sale a month or so ago at home depot and I grabbed a few.. maybe enough for 2-3 more all day smoking sessions is all I have left.

Looks awesome - the wife just topped up my setup for father's day with a weber summit. The big joe is just too much charcoal and warm up time unless we are entertaining as it's just us and a 2 year old.

Tried out the built in rotisserie using the IR burner to sear a 6lb prime rim roast and it turned out great.

I keep my Weber for grilling and my smoker for smoking. Nothing better than hickory wood chips and a brisket or Boston butt smoking for hours. Leave the windows open when itís cool out.

They say the pellet grills from Traeger or Pit Boss offer the best flavor when compared to other grills.

What do you all think ??

Versus other grills, yes. It has better flavor. Iíve used them. Versus a smoker, I will always prefer my smoker for the taste.

Nice to see some genuine interest in BBQing around here.

So I have a Weber Grill and a Master Built Electric Smoker. They both serve their purposes very well. Here's some of my smoked chicken:

Dizzy Pig makes some tasty rub. Love our Big Green Egg, pulled pork is incredible and way faster than brisket.
