Questions on a few issues with my 535i

1. Every couple of months I have to add water to the coolant reservoir. Common leak points? System appears to be holding pressure.

2. I have adaptive headlights are they supposed to dip down when another vehicle approaches? Is there a way to adjust them down. I keep getting flashed by oncoming drivers and its getting kind of annoying. I don't have any errors for the lights.

Well, the year and mileage would help. Slow leak check for a pinhole in the radiator. None visible, put in some UV dye. Use very very little -- the stuff goes a long way and you'll think you put in green Prestone. Not surprisingly, you'll need a UV light to use the UV dye.

Lights: dunno. Assuming you're on low beams and using stock bulbs (not 6400k 50w eye-burners), anyone know how to recalibrate adaptive xenons?

I have the same coolant issue on my 2008 535i (130K). I'm wondering if my coolant cap is the problem (it feels a bit loose). Let me know what you find.

Sorry for the late reply. I have been traveling for work. I haven't had to add coolant nor has my wife told me of any issues while I have been out.

The car is a new to me 2009 535i with 92k on it. I don't know what bulbs are in it but the lights are not dipping down as expected. When I start the car the headlights go through there normal routine up/down left/right.

The lights do not tip down. They may be out of alignment if you’re getting flashed. There’s info out there on how to adjust the angle of your lights.

Adaptive or not, the lights do not dip down for that reason.
If they need adjusting have a look here.

I had a slow coolant leak that came from the tube that sits under the radiator shroud but on top of the radior cover.
