Unfortunate incident is it totalled

Last night a guy pulled off the shoulder, and stopped on the freeway, the guy in front of me slammed I was in the acceleration lane with nowhere to go..

My first accident ever shook me up something awful at least no one got hurt my 340 is trashed had to be put on a roll back. Hope its not totaled, what do you think?

Car is not totaled. Looks like minor damage to front end. Fix hood, front bumper and grille.

Very sorry to read, must have been very traumatic (seriously). glad everyone is OK. i would say about 8k in damage, assuming no frame damage. bring it to a certified BMW collision place and the shop will put your baby back together...

Did the airbag go off?

I hit a deer 3 years ago with about the same mount of front damage. Probably looking at $6k to $8k in repairs. Yes be sure to find a good body shop and insist that bent hood, fender, etc., be replaced with new. Not straightened or replaced with boneyard parts.

I would say far from totaled. bumper, bumper supports, headlights, hood, grills, mayyyybe a radiator. $8k accounting for anything hidden... mostly that high just because the headlights at $1K/ea!

Insist on a BMWNA certified collision repair center, especially if using OPMs insurance.

Bigger issue will be if the guy you rear-ended claims whiplash. Not sure how the laws are in AZ, but here in MA you would technically be considered "at fault". Glad you are okay, but keep your fingers crossed that you only have to deal with body work.

Well I got the bill, it's $13k total. At this point I haven't heard anything from my insurance concerning the other party. They actually told the cop there was nothing I could do to not hit them so I may have dodged a built on that. Plus I didn't get cited, so time will tell. Should have it back by the 14th.

Looks gud, check the CARFAX out after a week or two to see if anything has been reported. Reason I said my friends hits his car every now and then and CARFAX is as good as anything.

A total is what you WANT.
Take it to the most expensive independent shop you can find.
Slip him enough to get it totaled.

Get a new car next week.

next time just swerve around the obstacle - it's the safest option if you won't stop in time.

that damage fortunately is not too serious
