Dealer can order them, but dealer cost is almost $9k in the USA. I imagine there Will also be a markup.

Attached the BMW part number and cost. Note none in the country currently, so plan on waiting a week or so if you pay for expedited shipping(10% of cost)-up to a month if regular order without shipping cost.

I would take the part number provided in the post above and contact the attached BMW service center that appears to be near to you, see if they can order it.

If you are willing to come to the USA to pick it up, then it would be easiest for you to call the nearest BMW dealership to wherever you were going to fly into in the USA and just order it over the phone, once it arrives you fly over here to collect it. I asked our parts department if the number was blocked, and they ran a simulated order and it went through OK. So it shouldn't be an issue for a USA dealership to order it.

Saves money changing hands that way, that is a lot of money to bounce through someone else in a different country

BMW Portland in Portland, OR. Parts phone is 888-646-3587. Tell them you want to order one of part number 83 30 2 353 250.

If you need it quicker, they can VOR it and have it in about a week. Otherwise, it will take closer to 3-4 weeks.

Hi brother,
Today I have called to the parts department of BMW Portland. They said that, I am not able to order this tester since I am not from dealer shop.
Do you have any other solution to manage this device.

actually we have change the one of the battery from BMW X5 hybrid car. Now its asking for code that will be got from Eos tester and now the battery is not activated.
Do you have any solution to fix the problem or buy the device ???

I spoke with the assistant parts manager yesterday, and he said it wouldn't be a problem to order the tester for anyone who wanted it... Did you get a name of who you spoke to?

I do not know of any solution to release the HV contractors other than the EOS tester code. However, it is entirely possible there is a Tools32 procedure to run for the SME that would unlock it; but I cannot say for certain or even help much in finding it, since I don't speak German.

Did you guys resolve this?

I'd like to buy an EOS tester too but the dealerships in the UK won't sell them.

Thanks.

Hi Godfollower.

Did you manage to help this guy place an order for an eos tester?

Thanks.

I tried, we were able to confirm with the parts department here that they could be ordered by non-dealer personnel. Not sure if he ever called back in and actually placed an order or not.

I doubt they would be willing to ship it however, so it would be a pickup only item.

Ok, thanks for letting me know.

I've spoken to someone in London who has access to the AOS platform and confirmed that he had BMW provide a 12 digit EOS code to him for an i8 using an OEM ICOM tool.

He's hopefully coming to my workshop on Friday to try this with my i3. Have you had any experience with doing this over AOS?

Thanks.

I have not, we do not have access to AOS in our region.

So the HV contactors can't be opened over ICOM/AOS remotely after a crash. But they can if you are just replacing something like an SME apparently (i.e. they can register it to the car).

I've now purchased an EOS tester so hopefully that solves my problem!
