e90 328i small engine leak ?

Hello,

I took my engine cover off to inspect for leaks.. I found this, between 4th and 5th coil. Does anybody knows what this is exactly ??? What is cause of this ? Is it problem in bolt ?

My lady ( bmw ) has only 65.000 miles

Thank you

Either the valve cover gasket or just a spill from an oil change.

Clean it with brake spray or equivalent, then watch it for awhile.

No return means spilled oil from oil change.

If it comes back, possible the appropriate inner gasket piece that the stud goes through has a leak.

Not in any way serious.

here's the gasket set. https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...-11127582245kt

possibly one of those three gaskets in the center of the picture.

In another matter, unplug the connector to the eccentric shaft sensor (top front of engine) and see if there's oil visible in the electrical connector. If so, and you decide you need to do the VCG set, consider the ESS as well at the same time.
