Can't play music

All,
I have a 2014 328d. 170,000+ miles with not a single issue (knock on wood) but I recently upgraded (subjective) to a new iPhone, I think it's the 7. It doesn't have a headphone jack and I can't play music in my car now. It won't play through the USB port. It's my understanding that without the navigation package, I'm up the creek without a paddle. Is there a "splitter" I can buy that plugs into my phone and the car's headphone jack? Any help is appreciated, my 130 mile daily commute is less entertaining now.

Yes, they make a splitter so that it has the round style audio out and also a place to connect the lightning as well at the same time. They also make a straight lightning to headphone audio adapter. You may need a male to male connector to plug into the vehicle or other source depending on the intent of use.

I have all my songs, artists, playlists on an older generation iPod and leave it plugged in all the time into the USB outlet in the center armrest. This lets me use the iDrive to scroll and select whatever I want from the iPod.

Another choice is Bluetooth dongle. I used Tune2air to play music from my phone (android). it plugged into the USB port and the 3.5mm jack in the center console. worked well. My 2013 does not have enhanced Bluetooth. In addition depending on the equipment in the car enhanced Bluetooth can be coded, check out the codding forum lots of options there as the adapters mentioned above

First off 170K miles WOW

If you do not have a phone jack on your iPhone then it's a iPhone 8 or X. You need to get a adapter that you can get from Amazon that will allow you to play your music or anything else off your phone.

If you still have your old phone, just keep using it for music. Older gen iPhones make great music only devices.

Thank you guys for the responses. I ordered a "lightning to aux" cable which should be here tomorrow. Hopefully it works.

Yup, 170,000 miles and counting. This is the first BMW I've owned and have been pleasantly surprised. It's such a well engineered car. I wish they didn't drop the diesel from the lineup. Hopefully they bring it back in another few years when I hit 250,000 miles. This thing still runs like it's brand new.
