MAGNAFLOW 16560 Exhaust System

I have done my research on the forum, went through the exhaust threads and I am coming out confused.

I know I want the Magnaflow 16560 exhaust given its good price and recommendations from the board. However, does it come with the Magnaflow X-pipe too or is that sold separately? I am looking for sound like the following clip:

Also, why is it that some Magnaflow exhausts have quad exits? Lastly, if you guys don't mind, please point me in the best direction for purchasing this system at a good price.

Thank you.

Yes, 16560 includes the x-pipe, just behind the resonator. Best price are around $960 on ebay and amazon.

Just installed this myself a few weeks back....Needless to say you will not be disappointed. Just try to resist starting it before you install the mufflers...OMFG sounds really good without muffs....so good I'm really thinking of installing electric cutouts before the muffs...it sounded that good but not what I would want 24-7.

Daily drive is fine. Not super loud at all. A nice bass rumble, especially at start up. Plenty of videos on youtube. Wish I did take a video when I started w/out muffs tho, u guys would have enjoyed that as much as me I would imagine.

Thank you for the responses! Kabookie, based on your own judgement, how many % louder is it compared to stock?

That's a good question but really hard to say. I would say maybe 25-30 % louder than stock in my opinion

kabookie, is the installation easy? Can it be done on jack stands? I just ordered the kit from amazon and was wondering whether I could do it myself. Thanks.

I ordered from a different vender (allaboutexhaust) and was told that it is backordered now. I think they are legit.

Alot cheaper option would be to just get magnoflow mufflers $300 or so and remove the resonators and replace with x pipe $150. same deal as the system 1/2 the cost

How would one get the entire car up on jack stands safely?

I saw a picture somewhere, a guy used 2"x4"x??" wood that cover both jack points, and lift the middle and then put stans on both sides.

The reason I want to do this myself is that I want the factory exhaust to be one piece in my garage. I may need to switch it back if I ran into new car warranty problem, and hopefully a different dealer won't notice that I had mods after I switch it back. I still got 45 months new car warranty.

Am I worry too much?

The best way to get the car up on 4 jackstands is to use 2 floor jacks.

Start by lifting the car at one of the side front jack points. Then use a second jack to lift at the front middle jack pad under the the car. Now place two jack stands under the front side jack pads and lower the car.

Next lift at one of the side rear pads. Use the second jack to lift on the brace just in front of the rear diff. Then place two jack stands under the rear side jack pads and lower the car.

With the car on all 4 stands give the body a good shake to ensure it is rock solid and will not fall.

Make sure you lower the rear first when dropping the car back down.

Take a look at the pics in my Oil Change DIY for the location of the front jack points.

White Drop Top, your F1 like sound grew on me. I have weak F1 like sound on my 2010 650i when I floor it. Will cancel the 16560 backorder and do a resonator delete. Screw the new car warranty.

Yorgi, thanks for the pictures.

If you had a issue it would not be an issue to replace the stock system just about $100 I would think. Are you getting mufflers too? I never take my car out of sport mode and even learned to throttle blip when paddle shifting. Sound sweet at high R's

I will do the resonator delete and x-pipe first. Is the x-pipe 2 3/8 " (60mm) in diameter? I am having trouble to find a good exhaust shop here in central NJ.
If not loud enough, I will replace the mufflers. I am debating on whether to put on quad tips like magnaflow 14816. The bump cutting is easy, just plastics. The problem is that the 14816 inlet is centrally located. Will have to ask the muffler shop. Anyone used national chain stores like Midas etc?

It's still very quiet with all resonators removed and x-pipe/stock mufflers - the sound is a lot nicer though; I'm gonna pick up some aftermarket mufflers and will go that route unless their too loud then I'll go back to the oem mufflers

It is HERE.

I decided to pull the trigger and DHL'ed this baby from the US to HK... monstrous shipping fees. So in case anyone was wondering, this is everything that comes from the Magnaflow 16560 kit. The size of the box that came with the kit was OVERKILL.

That's a nice looking kit! Great price for people in the US too. I can find it for $940 shipped on ebay.
