Mrs Dunderhi decided to humor me and join me this afternoon at Opneing Day for the Capitol Raceway in Crofton, MD. There was quite a crowd and the waits between runs were a little more than I experienced on previous visits to the track. It was not an ideal day due to the 15mph headwind, but a temp of 45 degree helped offset the wind penalty. It also encouraged Mrs Dunderhi to do a couples runs down the track in a warm car. Since my car is faster than 13.49 secs, she wasn't allowed to do a ride-along, so her first trip down the track would be a solo. She took her time and did a [email protected] and surprisingly she felt bad about the time and wanted to do it again.

So for her next run, she said she would floor it and keep it there.

Anyway we had a good day. I got in 7 runs myself (listed in actual run order):
1. [email protected] - I launched in second gear, spun the tires, and had a terrible 60' time
2. [email protected] - Tried Auto-Hold
3. [email protected] - Left our gear in the trunk - oops.
4. [email protected] - DSC completely disabled
5. [email protected] - Power braked and shifted around 6k
6. [email protected] - Same, but shifted 3-4 too early and felt it.
7. [email protected] - Same, but shifted earlier in lower gears and later in higher gears
8. Track closed, 12.4s was almost within my reach.

Badass numbers! What was your best 60'? Didn't you order stage 3 also, If you have results anywhere close to the other thread on here you'll drop into the 11's for sure.

This is fantastic! I am going to my drag strip too next weekend. But here it is only 1/8 mile so I can't compare to your times. They also require a helmet for cars which can beat 8.7 seconds on 1/8 mile, so I am buying a helmet.

I thought you lived in south Florida? I grew up going to moroso(pbir) they will allow you to run the 1/4. PGA exit on the turnpike.

My best 60' was 1.795 secs. Mrs. Dunderhi's was 1.960 secs.

If all goes well, I'll get Stage 3 installed on Wednesday. Unfortunately (well actually it's a pretty good deal), I'm heading out on a three and a half week working/beach vacation, so I won't be able to track it again until April.

Good work Mrs. D. Incredible what a rocket ship the 550xi is with minor tuning - without opening up the engine. I wonder how soon before someone makes bigger turbos and you have 700 hp+ out of the engine.

PBIR is pretty far from South Beach.

Homestead and Countyline only have 1/8 mile.

Lol my parents live on exit 5 on the turnpike which is the same as homestead and yet I've never been. Preferred to drive the 75mins to pbir but I like watching others run too.

Pics #3 and #4 - assuming this was not a HUMAN ERROR (her late start), am I seeing a throttle delay from standstill????? That's exactly the kind of late start my F10 would produce with my tip-in delay if I ever raced anybody..... (I'm being dead serious BTW...)

I'm sure it being her first time she just got treed, when I've attempted to cut a good light the car has responded well.

I don't think this car has a throttle delay, since hitting half-throttle will snap you neck back instantly and upset your passenger. Trust me I know.

As far as Mrs Dunderhi's track result, her R/T was .33 seconds slower, but she may have also deep-staged and tripped the timer when she took her foot off the brake prior to nailing the throttle.

Oh sure mine will as well. Don't want to hijack the thread, but yes, mine will snap aggressively as well - the problem being - it will do this exactly as shown in your pics... after a .5 - .75s late-start-sort-of delay (no matter how hard I step on it).

Awesome pics, BTW. Thanks for sharing the story!

PS. If you're ever back there again - have the Mrs take the same shots of you doing the race. Or another way to approach this - have you ever experienced the need to "catch up" following the start? Assuming you both gassed it at the same time, that is.

The half-throttle snap-back (actually a jerk forward) is instant and it sometimes makes it difficult to push all of the way to full throttle. If I went to full throttle immediately, there is a slight bogged-down feeling before it takes off. In my trips down the track, if I had a good R/T, I was the first one off the line.

P.S. Mrs Dunderhi took one pic for me and it was the New Holland tractor drying the track (because it kind of looked like mine). I really wish she would have taken a pic of the Lexus GS 350 getting towed after dying part way down the track.

D you lucky b*stard!
Congrats on the epic performance of Lady D!

I told you you would have a splendid experience.
Hah, but she almost beat you.
So now get the stuff out of the car, lighten it and go for 12.3 and please put it on film.
The faces of the guys gotten beaten by the Lady I mean.
I wonder of Stealth would be willing to drive over to you for an AWD-RWD Dinan exhibition....
I bet Lady D being faster in his car than you in yours, that would be a nice run.

Being she weighs a lot less than me, I was hoping she would beat my time.

As far as a RWD vs AWD Dinan race is concerned, we need more RWD's to hit the track. Does anyone know of a RWD Dinan doing better than 12.8 seconds yet?

BTW, I did get my tires to spin with my second gear launch, but it was with my snow tires and not my PSS.
