Hey there,

I have tried to search for it but have not found it in the forum, so please excuse if its a double. Some of the CCC professional units in the e60/61 fail after a while with CCC screen going black and not starting at all - the idrive knob spinning etc etc..

The usual answer from BMW (After you´ve tried to reset the unit with the three button combo - which by the way also works when ignition is off - with comfort entry / key) that you will have to replace the unit - HOWEVER, and here it goes:

The most common problem (in Scandinavia that is) with the CCC is that the DVD drive reading unit starts to misfire, that reader problem makes the entire system unable to start - this can happen with age, or a scratchy DVD - regardless, IF you manage to get your NAV DVD out by resetting it (with the volume, and both eject buttons pressed at the same time for a few seconds) , try leaving it out - if your system stays ok, get your BMW dealer to exchange the DVD reading unit inside the drive and all is well... is a GBP 250 job overhere, probably half in the UK... May also be worth trying if you can´t get your DVD out, since the GBP 200 investment is better than a few thousand.....

Anyway, hope this helps! :)

Now the problem appears to have got bigger. first the CCC was not functioning and therefore I was unable to use my SAT NAV, now the entire display has gone blank, like its completely died. no lights on idrive display face. when i press menu button, nothing happens. its just a complete blank screen. any remedy or advise would be helpful. thank you.

I recently received a telephone quote of $650 USD from some company in Van Nuys, CA to repair my unit. Was not able to speak with a technician to understand what they might do; could only speak to the know-nothing receptionist. That clinced it for me righ there, and I moved on. For an extra $100 I can get a brand new plug n play Dynavin unit.

I personally used BBA for dsc module. They were great and fast w shipping so I don't know about them being a scam. As for the unit Im in NYC and I will be glad to help anyone out with the replacement of their unit and the coding that follows.

I decided to try out the CIC upgrade after much consideration.

I found that both bimmer-tech and bimmer retrofit offer the kits to replace the ccc with the newer CIC system.

From my discussions I still think logic7 is a viable solution. If you go through the eBay portal ebay will stand behind the purchase. This offers some additional confidence.

So the company is "legit" - they received it, repaired it, and sent it back to me. Unfortunately something else seems to be wrong - I have no audio and the screen does not turn on unless I reset the CCC first but still get no audio. I sent it back to them to take a secondary look and make sure nothing was missed. I also noticed that the battery warning came on shortly after trying out the CCC so I will be getting a new battery before testing the CCC again.
