old vs new fog bulbs

Decided to upgrade my fog light bulbs after replacing a cracked fog lamp.

Decided on Nokya H8's purchased on amazon.
I wanted a similar HID look from the Xenon's, but mostly wanted the whiter light fog
for winter driving. They really light up the snow a little nicer than an average halogen bulb.

Bulb replacement is easy.
Both can be reached through engine bay. It's done by feel, but if you can get your
arm in there, there is enough room for your hand to work with the bulb and clip.

The tougher fix was the replacement lamp. My passenger side cracked from a rock, and I had to go through the wheel well trap door to take it out.
But it was impossible to put the replacement back in, so I dropped the underside plastic shielding.
19 f*cking screws, but made it waaaay easier to get access to both sides.

Thanks for your post. I have been thinking of this myself. Did you get the Nokya 35watt stage 1 or 55w Stage 2 replacement bulbs?

35w stage 1. I think the 55w maybe too hot for the reflector housing. They are manufactured in Korea and fit perfect. Who knows how long they will last, but I got them for $39 CAD.
Here are the OEM's.

Since I had a cracked lamp, I thought why not buy all new lamps?

Whoops, the story is getting longer.
I originally found some sweet LED fog lamp replacements from bimmian based out of Toronto. I ordered them, but after a conversation with their specialist(great service by the way),
it turned out that these new LED lamps only fit on pre-LCI X1's only. (2012 or older)
Since my X1 is a 2013, I was out of luck.
They cancelled my order and I was back to square one.

I go down to my local auto parts store and they want $200 for a replacement lamp. WTF?
I walked out. After driving home, I thought there must be a cheaper alternative.
I went online and found an OEM replacement on ebay for $70 US.
$122 CAD shipped to my door.
I believe there is no duty on replacement parts, so I only paid for shipping and exchange.

They shipped from Illinois.
I opened the package and it was made in Taiwan. They are identical to my OEM lamps but I'm guessing these are the ones they use to build X1's in China.
My OEM lamp was manufactured in Austria, or maybe Slovenia I think.

Anyway, it fit perfect.
Since I was working on replacing my lamp, I thought why not try to upgrade the OEM halogens? I researched online and thought I would try these Nokya's.
I looked at other halogen bulbs claiming to be "HID quality" but they were pricey.

Slapped them in and so far so good.
