Before u buy a MPM...check voltages. You can help all of us.

So if you read this you know the deal...no idrive no radio. We think its a bad MPM under the spare tire well. But my mpm seems ok...not obvious fry damages. Got no money to buy another for nothing.

So here is what I did...while car is running I measures voltages for each pin (see the photo for pin locations). Here are my voltages. Could someone do the same test on your working car and share with us here...so we knows what is a working MPM vs bad ?? It would be huge help. I cant find if this is done by reading lots threads. Negative of multimeter connected to battery negative terminal.

1. 4.47v
2. 0.01v
3. 14.33v
4. 14.35v
5. 0.37v
6. 14.33v
7. 14.33v

I think mine is ok since I got few valid output voltages. Next, maybe have a bad fuse or unit with M-ASK or idrive assembly. Not so sure.

Why don't you test the voltage connection behind the idrive/head unit. That way if there is no voltage then you could have a severed power line somewhere or worse if there is power your head unit might be dead.

fist thing to check would be the fuses in trunk and behind glove box, next if all are ok, pull head unit and check cable connectors, I have no radio (it works occasionally when it wants) and I just replaced the mpm since it listed for nearly $200 but I found them for around $135, but I got no change, my idrive is erratic but the screen works correctly? I just cant set dates or mileage for services or set radio stations, but I have already swapped the head unit out and programmed it, still works about 2% of the time?

For one thing, just ordered those plastic rivet tools to pry panels off, so got wait bit. Also, thought mpm was easier to find out since most people pointed that direction in other threads I read. Am afarid if I find no power it would be hard to trace...may not have access/clearance down there. You right that would be next step, soon.

Which cable connector...do you have a picture? Check all fuses...replaced one to get my horn back. Not sure why was burned. Had a strange non start event few days ago. Got another battery to replace one month old. Btw, still have air bag (fuse ok) and flat tire errors. Reset code wont clear. Dont make sense...besides no radio n idrive.
