It's not often you get the chance to buy a used Formula 1 car. But here's a chance to pick up a BMW Sauber car from 2007. It could be your ultimate track-day weapon. If you can find a few missing parts.

Longtime midpack team Sauber hit the big time in 2006. BMW bought a majority share in the team. Becoming a major sponsor and engine provider. This was the era of tiny V8s in F1, and BMW provided a 2.4L V8 to put in the back of the car.

Driving for the team that year was Nick Heidfeld, stolen away from Williams. Alongside him would be Robert Kubica. The test driver was another name you might recognize. Sebastien Vettel. Yes, that Vettel.

2007 was the best finish for the team. Grabbing 2nd place in the contructors' championship. That year Vettel drove at the US GP and became the then-youngest driver to score a point in F1.

So this car maybe wasn't the pinnacle of F1 performance, but that isn't always a bad thing. Check the price of a used Ferrari, for example.

This car driven by all three, the listing says. And it comes with the brakes, suspension, steering wheel, and gearbox. All often-missing and difficult to source parts. There's one thing missing though. The BMW engine.

So you'd have to source something for it. Maybe a turbo triple from a 1 series? Ok, maybe not. But it's for sale by Officina Caira, a shop specialising in classic F1 cars and keeping them running. So they can probably help you source something if you want to take it on track.
