Wiesmann Teases New Model with M5 V8

You might remember Wiesmann. The German automaker building custom convertibles by hand. With BMW engines under the hood. The classically styled roadsters were mostly BMW underneath, and the company made more of them than you'd probably guess.

Two years ago, they announced a new partnership with BMW. And then they mostly disappeared. Well, it turns out that they're still planning on putting together that new model. It was first revealed through a teaser photo from Autorai.nl. Though it's just a cloth-covered car. There's not much detail to see, but there is a round Wiesmann-style grille, what looks like plenty of curves on the fenders, and very wide door mirrors.

It's what's underhood that's the most impressive, though. Autorai reports that it's going to have the S63 from the M5 under the hood. Or at least some variant of it. That's the 4.4L V8 that makes 600 hp in stock M5 form. No word yet on how much power the new Wiesmann will get, but the new car is expected to be revealed in September. Possibly at the Frankfurt auto show.
