I recently replaced my NOx sensor as the old one was shorted. In INPA under the relevant NOx Sensor read data (using the MDS80 DME) there is a readout of the "Schubabschaltung" (deceleration fuel cut-off) and "Beladungsbetrieb NOx-Katalysator" (NOx catalyzer load). These should start...
in my 2008 E81 (116.000kms) I had a faulty NOx sensor getting always the usual errors (0x2AF9, 2AF4, 2AF2, 2AF6) so I purchased a new original one (sensor and module assy). Now I always get 0x2EAE (no communication with sensor) as if it's not connected or faulty. I am sure I...
I have a 2009 E70 x5 35d approaching 90k miles.
It lived in So Cal a little over a year ago, when it went into the BMW dealership for scheduled maintenance and check engine light.
Regarding engine codes, our invoice said "FAULTY ACTIVE TANK, SENSORS SHORT CIRCUITED, CANNOT ACCURATELY METER DEF...
Contrary to what I have read in statements from BMW thus far, it seems both Euro5 and Euro6 diesels will be getting a NOx emissions software upgrade shortly: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/car-news/vw-emissions/100356/bmw-mercedes-and-vw-agree-on-emissions-software-update-for-53m-cars

I have a 90 E30 with a rebuilt head last summer. Engine runs great, but I haven't been able to get it to pass smog for the last six months, so it's just sitting in the garage.
Here's what I've done so far
New spark plugs - NGK Iridium
Cap / rotor
Valve Clearance Adjustment
I don't think this has been posted before. So here is the link. ICCT NOx White Paper Note the table on Page 2. It appears that the BMWs imported into the USA market (and presumably the Canadian Market as well) are using a more expensive, more complex and presumably better NOx emissions control...
My 1998 Z3 passes the CO2 easily but not eh NO part. It is fine at low rpm's but not under load or at high rpm. It is tuned perfectly and has a new ODB II catylitic convertor. It doesn't code for Oxygen sensor. Any sugestions??
