  1. E85 / E86 Z4 (2003-2008)
While installing my valve cover in my 2007 Z4 E85 N52 3.0 one of the bolts cross threaded. It can easily be fixed with a tap. Anyone know what the thread size is for the bolts? Valve cover is plastic and vehicle is post 10/01 manufacture date.
  2. X5 E70 (2007 - 2013)
Hi All, So I recently got an E70 30d which I knew would need some work, first off there was an oil leak. I removed the bottom trays and oil appeared to be around sump but of course you want to find the highest spot so it appeared to go around the bell housing and I think the final highest spot...

I used stop leak because of oil pan gasket leak, 10 months later having to replace valve cover. Mechanic said oil channel inside valve cover may be clogged. I was getting pcv valve whine noise when using auto stop/start and replacing made no change. I will update later as to cause. 2013 N55
  4. E46 (1999 - 2006)
While trying to tighten one of my VCG middle bolts after seeing a bit of oil on it and thinking it was just a bit loose, I snapped the stud the bolt goes into (picture attached) It first glance and what I've read online, it looks like an 8mm bolt is attached to the double sided stud that goes...
  5. E36 (1991 - 1999)
Going to be installing a catch can as soon as it arrives in the mail but am still trying to figure out how to hook up the hose to the valve cover. I have a M50 with the aluminum valve cover so was thinking about tapping the hole to fit a 10an or whatever size it is to a barb fitting. Rally Road...
  6. E60 / E61 (2004 - 2010)
Hello All, This is not my thing, - posting stuff. But I wanted to share some of my (torturous) experience with replacing a 'valve cover'. It started with the 'loud whistling sound'. This one coming from the port located at the crankcase diaphragm cover. Many of you already know that it's caused...
  7. E90/E91/E92/E93 (2006 - 2013)
Changed new valve cover. Hope I followed all instructions correctly. When I started the car, saw white smoke coming from behind the engine. Stoped engine right away to inspect. When I started again the smoke came back on from behind engine close to the breather hose. Any suggestions on what...
  8. E90/E91/E92/E93 (2006 - 2013)
Hi guys. I was working on replacing the valve cover on my bimmer n55. Of course, I had to take out the fuel injector connector tabs (6 of them). However, I accidentally ended up breaking the tabs on 3 of the 6 injector connectors and now, even with the rubber seal, the connectors will not sit...

  10. Z Series
Hey everyone! New to the forum. The issue I'm having is locating the right part and I've been back and forth to the BMW dealership and they keep giving me the wrong part. Recently bought a 2005 Z4 (2.5L) and noticed one of the threaded studs was broken off. What I'm looking for is I think a...

Hi Everyone, I have a E39 528i 2000 sedan that has a oil leak that i just can't seam to locate. there is a small pool of oil on the ground at the front of the engine below the cam sensor. I have replaced the valve cover and gasket and have replaced the cam sensor (exhaust side) but this hasn't...
  12. X5 E70 (2007 - 2013)
In the past I replaced the valve cover on my 06 E46 ZHP and a couple days ago I decided to also do it for my 2011 E70 X5 (35i, X-Drive). It was difficult compared to the E46 but not too bad until I went to start the X5 (it will turn over but not start). After hours of looking online for a...
  13. E60 / E61 (2004 - 2010)
Hey all! I have a 2007 525i that has an oil leak top of motor. I originally thought was due to a valve cover gasket but after looking at the gasket shape I'm thinking it might not be the gasket at but something else and might be able to be fixed without replacing the gasket but maybe a washer...
  14. X5 F15 (2014 - 2018)
I just replaced the VCG on my 2014 F15 with the N55 engine and everything went right, I'm sure that the VCG is not leaking any more, however I still see smoke in the engine area, very light, not the amount of smoke when the VCG was damaged, is any other source for leaking oil on the F15 or the...
  15. X3 E83 (2004 - 2010)
Hey all, first post here. I have been reading this forum for a while, although I have not yet contributed. This x3 is my first car (after years of riding/DIYing all kinds of mopeds/small motorcycles), and I absolutely love driving it. I have been trying to figure out this issue for a while, and...
  16. E90/E91/E92/E93 (2006 - 2013)
Hi All, I've got an '09 328i (158k) that I'm trying to hang on to but it looks like an uphill battle. Let me know if you have some thoughts on this. Lately the fuel economy has been appalling (15 MPG), and the valve gasket has been leaking. I took her in for just a new valve cover as I'd have...
