Hello! I own a 2007 118i. I accidentally opened the bonnet of my 118i with the wipers up. I heard a loud crack and to my amazement I discovered that the windscreen has cracked. Has anyone experienced this?
Did you report this to BMW? Was there a reply from them?
There is a note in the owners manual for the 2010 coupé to not open the bonnet with the wipers up and that it could cause damage to the windscreen. Also, avoid lifting the wipers by grabbing the centre of the blade instead of the arm, my wife managed to release the blade from the arm due to accidentally squeezing the release tabs together when cleaning the windscreen, the blade-less arm hit the windscreen and cracked it.
Thank you for your reply and advice. It is really a design flaw. Anyway, i'll be more careful the next time.
Thanks again.
