I am experiencing a parasitic load on my bmw. I notice the main power relay is always active. It stays hot. I cannot figure out why. Can anyone shed some light on this for me.

the contacts might have been burnt and stuck together. take it apart and clean the contacts with a sand paper

Power drain problem

In have a 1986 325es with a parasitic load. I notice the main power relay does not shut down. It is hot to the touch unless I disconnect the battery. Does anyone know how to test this car for the problem. Could it be an ignition switch?

^ That.
You can narrow it down quite a bit by pulling the negative battery clamp, putting a DMM between the post and clamp set to amps, then start pulling fuses one at a time until you hit one where the draw goes away.
