This car sat up for years and we wouldn't have had any problems cranking it if it weren't for the fuel pump we've done everything and it's still running rich and has a jumpy idle between 1000 and 1300 rpms. Sometimes when coming to a stop it will idle at 1000 and struggle. I read an article that suggests that since it sat up it may need the DME reflashed or replaced

No, that is incorrect. Storing a car for an extended period will not damage the DME or require that it be re-flashed. You have other issues.

If this car sat for years, did you have the fuel tank drained before starting it? Gasoline begins to tarnish after a handful of months, and running it through your fuel system can wreck havoc on the injectors and other components.

what about the coolant temp sensor? someone told me that could also be causing this problem
