Helping a buddy diagnose his 1999 323i (E36) Manual Trans....
At low speeds, it makes a sort of ... rhythmic metallic sound. It only happens at low speeds, not just low rpms. (lower rpms of a higher gear = no sound) Sounds kind of like someone is bouncing on a spring mattress bed, but.. larger. (think that rhythmic spring compression sound) It sounds like it is coming from around, or just behind the transmission.
Anyone have any ideas? High mileage BTW
