Recently I purchased 2000 528i. I noticed wet passenger side rear carpet. I went to few reapir shops to diagnose the leack. I totally received three different answers. Finally, I went to BMW dealer. The mechanic in dealer said vapor barrier needs to be replaced and quoted for $1600.

I checked many BMW forums. It sounds like this is a pesky problem in BMW card. Oh man!! I should not have bought BMW. Anyway, to understand the problem myself, I splashed water continouly from bottom of the rear passenger side, I was able to see carpet slowly turns wet in less than five mins. This makes me belive that, the door vapor barrier is not issue in my car. Is it a body plug issue? If it is really a vapor barrier issue, is it really cost $1600 to repair?. I really appreciate any help on this.

Thanks,
