Hi guys,

The 2003 325i with 100K miles is with my son in college ~ 1,500 miles away.
The RF glass does not go down (which is a good thing compared with people whose glass fell down
and cannot be pulled up).

I am very familiar with the E39 5-series, E46 3-series and E83 X3 etc. issues re glass and window regulator.

The question is: when the glass does not come down, is it the problem with the electrical motor itself?
IIRC, the WR is sold separately as a unit w/o the electrical motor.

if the window is stuck upwards, one should hear a minor clunk on when the motor tries to drive in one direction or other. if its not heard, the motor is not attempting to rotate. however, iirc, the LF door module is the "master" controller...it could be that .

A window mechanism is hardly mission-critical; wait until he comes home and do a little exploratory surgery then.

More likely the regulator rather than the motor. If the motor is working you will hear it turning.
