Got to take a 2006 Z4 out for a 11 mile loop for the "Drive for the Cure". Couldn't get it above 50 mph due to the intown prescribed route. I was fortunate enough to be first in line for 4 red lights in the loop. I got to try out the paddle shifters (to third gear anyway) from a dead stop at the lights. I really like the responsiveness, much better than my X5 in tiptronic manual mode. The shifts were much quicker.

The one I drove was a non sport 3.0i. It was plenty quick, and the ride was very compliant on different surfaces. I was surprised, given the 17" runflats. Overall, I was very impressed with the 2006. The paddle shifters were nice, and like I said earlier, shifted very quickly, with little or no delay.

Test drove a 750li and 645 cic, both very nice cars, with plenty of power.
