I have a small chip in my windshield that i should probably get fixed before my lease turn in. It is the size of dime in the passenger field of view.

I can't find my lease paperwork from 2013, so I am wondering if a repair is offered, is that OK for BMW? If a replacement is needed, does it have to be BMW OEM glass or no?

I am pretty sure you must replace chips larger than 1/4"

BMW has posted videos and documents describing this...google it.

The OE vs OEM/aftermaket issue is interesting- if BMWFS will ding you (pun intended) for a non BMW glass, can you use that to demand and OE glass from your insurer?

Whats your glass deductible on your insurnace? mine is 100, so pretty painless....

Is any imperfection in the glass subject to the BMW $700 fee? I had a small chip repaired a year ago under my insurance glass deductible with a barely perceptible hint that a repair was done in the far lower right corner. Should I demand a full glass replacement? I have heard conflicting information on this at the dealer level, in terms of end of lease implications.
