My 2015 X-1 has seen little use over the last year, about 1,500 easy miles adding to the 60,000 total on the odometer. Oil level is fine. Based on time it’s due for an oil change. Question: is it important to change the oil after a period of time (about a year) even with very low mileage since the last dealer oil change at 60K? It’s been in our garage, gets used once a week or so. Would oil properties degrade enough to matter? Thanks for any advice.

Thanks for the reply, my instinct as well but I’m always looking for perspective on these things.

Yeah, the condensation is the issue with low miles/longer interval. Climate at your location has an effect on this. Low humidity/more consistent temperature will have less potential condensation.

Thank you for adding that. I had asked the dealer service manager why a time-based oil change was recommended and they couldn't come up with a reason why. Avoiding moisture buildup works for me.
