I updated the maps in my car from 2013 to the 2017 package. Now when i try to see what version my nav is, it comes up with a blank screen. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated.

You will get automatic Map updates OTA for your region. If you want to update the entire map database you can get the information from Sean. Your OTA map updates from BMW happen on BMWs schedule and are usually 1 version behind the latest set of map data that is available from someone like shawns contact.

 

So, POI, 3d and the other data will continue OTA or is that something that needs to be updated via USB ?

 

Everything is updated for your Region. You have a base installed map version (e.g. 2015-4) and the OTA updates are regional patches (e.g. 2016-4).

I have a '14 with nav and I would like to update the maps too. My sales advisor quoted me $149 for the maps and an hour of labor.

I am curious about what you are offering and how it gets installed, or how difficult it is to install. My mother's friend bought a map update from Honda for his Odyssey and somehow ruined his head unit ($6000). So I'm a little anxious about trying the update myself.

I have the 2013 car with professional navigation and originally the 2013 map. After I update to the 2016 and subsequently 2017 SEA Next map, I have to spell the street name in my navigation voice input. I used to be able to do whole word entry before the update (not with Shawn Sheridan).

Any help?

From Navigation Screen, hit the iDrive Controller Option Button and then Scroll Down on Screen and display Navigation version. The latest for your car should be North America NEXT 2017-2. PM sent.
