hi all sat in a new e300 today some compelling thoughts
the two 12.3 inch screens are amazing didn't know you need to go to p3 package with options around 70k, way too much

the looks are like a long c or a small s too much overlap in styling its a good looking car i think the new 5 will have the edge

the interior was really nice but the seats were a strange shape and lost some softness not to my liking if they do a baby 7 interior with new 5 bmw will be ahead

mpg, blown away said city 20mpg and 30 or 31 highway combined 25
what am i missing bmw has 24 and 37 and gets 27mpg with a car designed five years ago.
the new 5 200 pounds lighter should get 28 combined with a tad more power, way to go bmw

got back in my 528 and said to myself i am driving this till 99 k with the cpo warranty for 400 dollars a month its a lot of car.

I get 30 mpg in my 550. Nothing less than 40 mpg and 350 hp in a 3 liter 6 will impress me.

I was impressed with the new E class when I looked at it last week. 62k car came with full led nav blind spot park assist heated seats and armrests and 19in wheels.

Spot on.

Two 535i's (F10) - 2011 and 2013. Both nearly identical 22mpg - drove total of 75,000 miles split between cars.

Highway 55%, local roads 45%.

The (now) largest Mercedes dealer (or darn near close) is down the street from me (MBUSA moved their HQ to my town).

I sat in a couple new E's. Drove the E300 and C450 (no C43 yet - identical car).

Prefer the C. Yeah, it's tight, but it's better than the E.

$70k+ for a 200-something HP 4-cylinder, to get all the stuff they're hyping (dual 12.3" screens, autonomous, etc.) is ridiculous.

agreed, but the serene ride is almost s standard and rides better than the f10 or probably the g30
the base e with nav for 55k if you can land with 10% discount is a good value a lot of car and safety.
just couldn't believe the styling how they did so little to differentiate.
the g30 with carbon core and weight savings with the b58 inline six should be an amazing car.
looking forward to upgrading to it.

Hard to digest a 70k car with a 4 cyl engine, but that's todays technology.
I looked one year old C400 vs 3 year old 535i for the same money. I liked the smaller C dynamic with the sport suspension but I opted for the manual Transmission!
Very happy with my decision.

Im getting 22.5mpg mosty urban driving with about one 500mile highway trip a month. 30mpg on a 550 is doable if your on the highway going 65mph?
I don't like resetting my computer so I don't measure short trips.
I do like to have it sport around town which kills the numbers but adds to the fun!!!!

I configured an E300 similar to my 550 and ended up with $83K!! My 550 is fully loaded except the night vision and it was $85K. But, a big but, it has the N63tu engine. For God's sake, you are paying a similar amount for a 4 cylinder engine with 200 less horses! What will an E400 cost, $100K? This is ridiculous. Mercedes inserted an entry car at $30K to increase its overall market share but also to secretly bump up all the prices as well. Now you have to cough up almost 80K for a adequately equipped four-banger (by adequately I mean that has more or less all the accessories of a loaded Honda Accord).

Personally if you are concerned with fuel mileage you should be driving a Prius. I didn't buy any of my BMW's for fuel mileage.

Strange statement, as I look at mpg, as I drive a lot of miles. Instead of looking at a Prius, look at a diesel BMW or Tesla. My diesel BMW has been great and looking at the 535d or Tesla for my next car.

Since the CLA I guess they are trying to make the C and E more upscale which is why the E is so expensive.

I believe the C is the first car in it's class with air suspension.

I remember talking to a Benz sales rep when the new S class came out. He said they wanted to weed out some buyers and move up scale, thats why they were leasing at 2200/month. They now sit on lots @ 10-15k plus off sticker. Eclass will be the same with huge discounts from msrp.

I understand that if you do a lot of miles I do 30K+ per year myself. It was the splitting hairs between one car rated at 22-27 vs 24-30.

Another benz guy, different dealer, said a s63 couple lease was $3500.00 and that M6's didnt have a lot of torque. Hes the "AMG Specialist" at that dealer as well.
