BMW Blog indicated it won't be unveiled until the 2017 Detroit auto show. That seems like a long time after the end of the F10 production!

the new BMW G30 5 Series will have its world premiere at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. The latest generation of the premium midsize sedan will be unveiled in the upcoming weeks on the Internet, followed by the first press drives in the fall and market introduction in early 2017.

While many believed the new 5er will land in Paris in September, the second largest European car show of the year will be hosting instead the world premiere of the BMW X2. With no other BMW car launch planned in the next few months, it only makes sense that BMW will use the two auto shows to reveal different mass production vehicles.

I think Paris or LA makes more sense but the F30 world premiere was in Detroit as well months after it went into production. Keep in mind that there could be a lag of a few months until they reach the US as well, we don't always get cars right as they come off the production line.
