I have a 95 318i that refuses to start. I went to fill up the tank the other evening, and when I went to start the car the following morning it would not start. The car has been running great, with no signs of any problems. I pulled the fuel pump relay and jumped the pump, and could hear it running, but when I replaced the relay and turned the key to start, the fuel pump does not work. All fuses have been checked and are good, and I read the codes with the check engine light and there were no faults (code 1444). I have read many posts about replacing the crankshaft position sensor, but would that cause the fuel pump to not energize when the key is in the start position? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
