Hey bummer lovers,

Long story short I tried to update the DME on my 328i and I killed it. I was using ISTA/P without the icom cable using an emulator. I had to tow it to the dealer and is there now. I didn't tell them anything and they did troubleshoot it to the DME. The DME arrived today. I received I call from the service advisor "Sir we can't program your new DME to your car because your FRM, FZD, headlights, and other parts are not original to this car. We need the original FRM to code the DME." The car has a pre lci halogen to lci xenon AHL retrofit. I don't understand why can't they code the DME or why can't they retrofit these ECUs to me car. Are they trying to get more money out of me? OR is this true?

Thanks for your input

Ista without expert mode will not allow you to flash modules without everything matching in BMWs database. They need all original equipment to flash the car since ista at the dealer can only flash the entire car and not individual modules.

You can try winkfp or NFS. NFS may be able to recover the dme

I can't try anything since the car is at the dealer with a new dme installed. This sucks. I might have to take the car out of the dealer and find a coder who can code the dme. I'm not replacing all the ecus I've changed just because they don't know how to use expert mode or don't have it
