i was noticing on BMW's site that the Auto and manual were within .2 sec of each other ... makes me much more excited about the new car. I love a manual, but in Atlanta, it's just not doable when you spend 35k per year on the road in traffic.

That was a great review.

I can't believe how impatient I am right now waiting for my car.

Correct me if my reasoning is wrong. If a 335 auto reaches 100km/s (62m/s) in 5.3s, then it probably could reach 60m/s in 5.1s, and the 6-spd munual could do it in 4.8 or 4.9s. That means, 335 is as fast as the current M3.

I hope it's true, but I doubt.

It won't be quite as fast as an e46 m3 coupe in 0-60 since the best numbers for those are around 4.5 but it will probably match an M3 cab (like mine ;)) But from just about every other measure besides 0-60 it will match the M3 because of its amazingly flat torque curve . I am very interested in what the trap speed will be.

The other obvious thing is that short of adding a supercharger, which costs 15k with install and required upgrades, it is very difficult to squeeze any significant extra HP out of an M3, but it will probably be very easy to get an extra 50 HP out of a 335i with just software and an exhaust, so it will probably be easy to make a 335i faster than an e46 m3. What will be interesting to see is will a minimally modified 335i run close to even with a 70K e92 M3?

Figure Dinan will have a chip soon. That's gotta be good for at least 50 hp/100 ft-lbs of torque.

An LSD for 2k would probably make the e92/e90 an even better handling car too.

Pretty good numbers for a slushbox. I prefer to shift my own but in 95% of the real world, the auto is going to shift consistently everytime while my own human launch will be less than perfect around 95% of the time. Plus, the slushbox won't miss a downshift and can rev match 100% better than my granny shifting :) Besides, DC/Baltimore traffic? I might be glad to have an auto.........................YMMV.

If Autozeitung's numbers are accurate, this car will outrun a B6 S4.

Pick up the latest issue of Auto Zeitung. I think someone on E90post was going to scan it in.

So - I wonder if the power \ torque limits on their press fleet car will be the same as what we can actually buy???
Those are very big numbers.

I am looking forward to test driving the 335 sedan when it becomes available. I need a four door car to replace the M3 when my lease is up, but the regular 3 series just seemed like a performance dissapointment when switching from my current model. But the new engine has me excited that my next 3 series will be a blast to drive as well. :)
