My current project du jour is working with the UUC black transmission mounts. So far I have vibration problems right at 2K RPM but UUC is quite specific that I shouldn't have vibration or there is a problem. In re-tracing my steps I think I goofed and pre-loaded the bushings so I'm gonna lift the transmission again this week and re-do it. If the vibration doesn't go away then I'll go back to OEM.I am planning to replace the engine and transmission mounts on my 540. Any brand perference? Anyone know what brand BMW uses? I see Boge/Sachs, Lemfoerder, Meyle and Corteco offerred. I am kind of thinking Boge/Sachs is probably oem.
Thanks!
That's what this guy used, Boge and lemforder.Well if no other input, I am planning to order the Boge/Sachs brand engine mounts, and Lemforder trans mounts, as that this the combo one online seller offers. Many sellers offer the Corteco (including our sponsors) which is an aftermarket brand from Europe and the Meyle are about $10 to $15 less expensive that all the others...but I really want to stick with oem for these critical parts, and not induce unwanted noise or vibration.
Thanks!
I think Lemforder may be doing the same thing! I noted on the EuroParts Direct.com website that the Lemforder ones have the same "Corteco" stickers on them...while the Meyle brand ones did not. They must be buying them from Corteco, because Corteco is part of Freudenberg Group --http://www.freudenberg.com/ecomaXL/index.php?site=FCO_EN_automotive#
Glad the install went smoothly![]()
Actually corteco is oem for the engine mounts, If you order the boge/sachs there is a 99.9% chance there will be a corteco sticker on them.Well if no other input, I am planning to order the Boge/Sachs brand engine mounts, and Lemforder trans mounts, as that this the combo one online seller offers. I'd like to introduce you to my local dealerHey thanks Taylor, I am probably going to let my mechanic buddy handle it....he needs the dough.![]()
Well, my buddy works "off the clock" and only charges straight time, not "book time" so if he does it in one hour then it is $75, cash under the table, versus the $95 or $105 the dealer charges, plus shop fee and tax....plus the "book time" for engine mounts alone is probably 1.5 hours, and then another .5 hours for the transmission mounts.I'd like to introduce you to my local dealer
I could perceive little to no difference...though it felt smoother, that may be just because I am looking for an improvement.good to hear
and what is the difference like? i would imagine very smooth idle and everything is smooth but just curious why you replaced... or what problems you had
Agreed, we did both engine and transmission mounts, from starting onto the 2-post lift to off in 40 minutes. Engine mounts were easily done in 20 minutes. Could have been faster, but reaching the top of the driver side mount requires a bunch of extensions to reach...that is simple enough for removal, but getting the nut back on from above was a pain....we used some sticky wheel bearing grease to hold the nut to the socket...still took four tries, but we got it.Mounts can be done in a very short time if you have the equipment like a dealer. Even at home on the driveway they are a quick fix.
A dealer could swap in new ones in 15 to 20 minutes.
