540i GUZZLING fuel

OK so I know 540is drink fuel moderately but I think mine has something wrong with it. I filled it up to 3/4 and after 2 days and not even 15 miles driving total it's at less than a quarter and the light is on for fuel. The headunit said the range was something like 400 kilometers and when I drive it drops like 10-12 kilometers for 100 meters I drive. What's going on it cannot be normal I mean sure it's a V8 but 4.4 lltrs and 282hp should be drinking like this. Help guys I'm confused.

My guess, Fuel Sender or Fuel Receiving Unit malfunction? Or even faulty Gauge?

But since you're getting a reading on the OBC, sending/receiving seems to work.

Some people have tried Chevron Techron for fuel related issues like this with success.

Not sure if you have Techron down under?
Don't trust the fuel gauge (no that linear) or the computer. You need to measure the fuel going in to the tank v miles/KM done.

Fill the tank, drive it, then fill it again and work out your MPG or KM/L. I normally get ~19 MPG or 26 on a long run (US gallon 3.78L). So by my maths thats about 8 KM/L normally.

From what I've seen here I would say my car is fairly representative of what a 540i should do in good order.

Can misfire cause this? I took the car to a BMW specialist and he got misfire code and it seems to be the valve cover gasket leaking over everything and the spark plugs are just gone. He's fixing these issues as we speak but could the misfire have caused fuel economy to be that bad.
Getting less than half a mile per gallon! No it cant be that bad. A little bad, but not that bad.
